This study aims to investigate the effect of design thinking-based STEAM program for primary and secondary students. The design
thinking-based STEAM program dealt with advanced scientific technology issues and it consisted of 8 topics. A questionnaire
was developed to explore the change of Science concept awareness, Interest, Self-efficacy, Career consciousness of students
through the program. The questionnaire consisted of following 4 areas, such as ‘Science concept awareness’, ‘Interest’, ‘Career
consciousness’ and ‘Self efficacy’. Pre-post test was conducted to 75 primary and secondary students. As a result of analyzing
post-test compared to pre-test, ‘Science concept awareness’, ‘Career consciousness’ and ‘Self efficacy’ of students were improved.
And the ‘Interest’ wasn't changed significantly. Through this research, it can be suggested that the design thinking-based STEAM
program can be useful at school education to improve the Science concept awareness, Career consciousness and Self-efficacy
of primary and secondary students. It is also proposed that further research of the various areas of interest and other affective
variables will be needed.

This paper is the second part of the January 2018 issue of the Korean Society for Engineering Education, The “Equilibrium and
Unbalance Analysis of Taegeuk Pattern DNA Matrix Codes,” and is an extension of the paper published in the IoT Section of the
2017 Summer Conference in Jeju.
In this paper, we have reviewed the history of what is life, and 5G Mobile communication: with IoT followed by recent research
on influenza RNA gene mutation and DNA mutation variants, and the insights of Watson and Crick. Inspired by a single Franklin
DNA X-ray diffraction photograph, they received the Nobel Prize for the Nature publication of DNA that has three patterns and
regular repeatability. Professor MoonHo Lee has solved the three patterns in Diagonal, Left to Right, and Vertical matrices in a 2x2
matrix[CU; AG] and A = T = U = 30% C = G = 20%. We also proposed DNA Watch. This is the Healthcare IoT, which is seen
by the DNA Watch on the wrist, the type of Tai Chi pattern of the body, and is immediately connected to the smartphone and delivered
to the doctor.

With rapid advance of technologies including information and communication technologies, jobs are evolving faster than ever. Architectural
engineering is no exception in this regard, and the green architectural engineering is emerging fast as a promising new field. In this
study, a Delphi study of expert architectural engineers are conducted to find out (1) near future prospects of the field, (2) near future
emerging jobs, (3) competencies needed for these jobs, and (4) educational content necessary to build these competencies with regards
to the green architectural engineering. Initial Delphi survey consisting of open-ended questions in the above four areas were conducted
and came out with 65 items after duplicate removal and semantic refinements. Further refinements via second and third wave of Delphi
results into 40 items that the 13 architectural engineering experts may largely agree upon as future prospects with regards to the green
architectural engineering. Findings indicate that it is expected that the demand for green architectural engineering and needs for automatic
energy control system increase. Also, collaborations with other fields is becoming more and more important in green architectural engineering.
The professional work management skills such as knowledge convergence, problem solving, collaboration skills, and creativity linking
components from various related areas seem to also be on the increasing need. Near future ready critical skills are found to be the
building environment control techniques (thermal, light, sound, and air), the data processing techniques like data mining, energy monitoring,
and the control and utilization of environmental analysis software. Experts also agree on new curriculum for green building architecture
to be developed with more of converging subjects across disciplines for future ready professional skills and experiences. Major topics
to be covered in the near future includes building environment studies, building energy management, energy reduction systems, indoor
air quality, global environment and natural phenomena, and machinery and electrical facility. Architectural engineering community should
be concerned with building up the competencies identified in this Delphi preparing for fast advancing future.

The purpose of this study was to develop the character index instrument for engineering college students. For this, literature review
and survey were used. The survey was conducted with 275 engineering college students in D university. Finally, draft of character
index instrument for engineering college students was developed with 10 factors and 47 questions. Based on the results, the investigation
of engineering college students' needs is necessary to conduct for developing character education programs. And it is necessary to research
validity of the draft of character index instrument for engineering college students. It is necessary to develop various convergence subjects
by experiencing the character substantially for engineering college students.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of perceptions and images of teachers about engineering, according to practical
training in laboratories of engineering research institutes. For this purpose, 149 elementary and secondary school teachers were surveyed
before and after visiting the engineering research institutes and examined the perception of engineers and engineering. Through this
teacher training program, perceptions and images of most teachers are changed positively and they can understand practically about
engineering, and related fields. The results of this study can be used as basic data for the development, operation, and expansion of
teacher training using advanced science and technology research institutes with excellent human and material resources.

The purpose of this study is to develop a method to improve the quality of engineering education by using Kano’s dualistic quality
model and Timko’s customer satisfaction coefficient. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, the top priority for major education
is improve ‘smooth support of class medium’ as an attractive and one-dimensional quality element, and ‘use of various examples’
and ‘specialty improvement of major curriculum’ as an one-dimensional quality element. Secondly, the top priority for general education
is improve ‘liberal education curriculum’ as an attractive quality element ‘use of various examples’ as an one-dimensional quality
element. Thirdly, the top priority for extra-curriculum is develop and provide ‘study support program of student’ and ‘voluntary service’.
Fourthly, the top priority for administrative service and facilities is improve ‘increase of scholarship’ and expand ‘service of welfare
facilities as dormitory and refectory’ as an one-dimensional quality element.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of college students majoring in the engineering on career decision difficulties
and emotional and personality career difficulties. Data is consisted of 430 college students. We tested the research question by employing
the PSM and the multi-regression model. The result showed that college students majoring in the engineering have difficulties in the
information about self, the lack of information, and the outside control on career decision more than others. We suggested that career
education and counseling of understanding themselves such as interesting, aptitude, and occupational value should be provided for students
majoring in the engineering.

In this study, a new experimental device was developed for measurement of the coefficient of kinetic friction using a photo gate timer
system which have advantages of easy and accurate detection of motion. This device, consisting of a side air-guide track and a side
friction-free glider, forces a friction sample to move in a straight line without producing unnecessary friction. The new device is compared
to two conventional measuring methods of friction for four different friction samples: one is using a camera system and the other is
using a force sensor. It is demonstrated that the developed friction device in this study is easier to operate and produces the most
accurate and the least deviating results among them. On the basis of these results, we propose that friction experiment using the new
friction device is included in general physics experiment, so that engineering students should have a chance to get correct understanding
of classical mechanics including friction phenomenon.

This study aims to compare human resource development by industrial and occupational characteristics of science and engineering
graduates. To achieve research objectives, this study analyzed whether differences exist in human resource development, such as participation
in vocational training, wage levels, and cuture of talened person preference, by industrial and occupational characteristics. The results
showed that workers in engineering fields received more benefits and support compared to those in non-science and engineering field
occupations at the quantitative statistics of vocational training and wage levels. On the contrary, according to the qualitative statistics,
workers of non-science and engineering field have a culture of talented person preference compared to those in science and engineering
